And Salinger reminds me of Hemingway, probably because I would have originally started reading both of them around the same time twenty some years ago - The Sun Also Rises is one of my favourite books. Of course, that makes me think of Salinger's Nine Stories which was a great set of short stories. So I suppose Vonnegut could go in there instead of PKD although I prefer most of the short stories to the novels - Welcome to the Monkey House is a good collection. And PKD reminds me always of 'Kilgore Trout', the good idea/poor execution science fiction author from Vonnegut's books. Apparently I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. The funny thing is that I would normally say that I don't like science fiction.
